British Canoeing:
British Canoeing no longer require formal training to attend a Sea Kayak Leader Assessment – course attendance is optional. We provide excellent coaching experiences that will develop your sea kayak leadership skills, regardless of any future assessment goals. This is not an ‘assessment preparation’ course, although we will explore skills and experience for successful candidates at this level.
Is this sea kayaking course for me?
Sea kayaking is a physical activity in a dynamic outdoor environment. You should be able to maintain moderate aerobic activity for up to 6 hours each day.
We recommend approximately 20 days recent sea kayaking experience. You should have some dynamic water sea kayaking experience, and be ready to develop your skills and take on new challenges.
You should be comfortable balancing, forward paddling and manoeuvring in moderate water. Rolling skills are useful, but not essential. We’ll help to refine your skills and confidence in moderate water during the course.
All participants must be over 18 years of age.
