Develop your dynamic water kayaking skills in wind and waves, friendly tide races, surf zones and rock gardens!

Interested in developing your sea kayaking skills in more challenging conditions? Our Dynamic Water Development course will help take your confidence and ability to the next level!

Our Dynamic Water Development course is ideal for sea kayakers who already have some experience in moderate conditions including 15kts winds, 2kts tidal streams and 1m waves. We’ll provide coaching in these conditions to enhance your skills and confidence, with a focus on tide races, rock gardens and surf zones. We’ll also help you to develop accuracy and control in wind and waves.

Rolling skills in moderate water are not essential to attend this course. However, you should already be comfortable balancing and manoeuvring in open sea conditions.

There are no formal British Canoeing aims during this course, although the skills and experience gained are useful for a range of awards. If you wish, we can provide training for the BC Coastal Sea Kayak award during the course.

Tell me more!

The aim of this course is to experience the best of Anglesey’s dynamic water kayaking, with dedicated coaching to bring out the best of your paddling skills. We’ll enhance your moderate water skills, tactics and confidence. We’ll also help you to develop independence by building your planning, decision making, safety and rescue skills. This course is ideal to develop your skills and experience for future self-led trips on the UK coastline.

We’ll select venues around the Anglesey coastline, each with progressive dynamic water conditions. On breezy days there will be plenty of moderately challenging sea conditions on semi-protected coastlines. In windy conditions, we can choose downwind runs in the Menai Strait and make use of the tidal rapids of the Swellies. In all, there’s a great deal of adventure available, regardless of the weather!

Is this sea kayaking course for me?
